SOS-CMS

SOS-CMS is a content management system that Tankadillo uses and I’m developing with PHP and MySQL. I decided to make my own program because I'd rather have something custom designed exactly for my needs rather than generic bloated software that I'd have to hack to do what I want.

Believe it or not, I'm actually constantly developing and improving it, but most of the changes I make are internal and don't effect the public interface at all. My goal is to eventually make the code so flexible that I can easily apply it to any other PHP projects I happen to pick up. The sole reason I develop this is because I think it's fun.

Currently the main framework for SOS-CMS is actually pretty stable and organized. It's easily extendible without needing to hack the base files and the API is easy to use (at least I think so!). There is no public release planned however because I simply don't want to have to deal with the kind of trouble that would come from making it suitable for the public. I don't want to have to make an installer script or write documentation or be bothered with emails from people who want a patch to make it work with PHP 4.1.0 on a Windows server with short tags turned off or whatever other dumb requests people may have. I simply don't want to deal with that hassle. And realistically, who really wants to use this software anyway? In case you haven't noticed this is pretty much the most boring possible web CMS ever. If you really want the source code you can ask but don't expect much more than that.
